One of my favorite picks for a dense screen and rapid growth, 'Spectabilis' is aptly named for it's colorful yellow with green striped culms. The picture below illustrates how fast a screen can be established with it. A 10 gallon sized plant was installed with barrier last summer, adequately watered and fertilized with full sun. I was knew it was a fast grower but was a little shocked to see it sending inch wide shoots well on it's way to an 10' spread. It has the potential to hit 26' and is quite vigorous.
